The weekend after Ollie's birthday we had friends and family out to the Ranch to celebrate. Josh & Nicole gave him a kangaroo climber for him birthday and he loved it!

Cherie's Birthday

Cherie turned 26 on Sept 22. Her & Jolly came up to the Ranch for the weekend and we drove up into the Poudre Canyon to fish and see the aspens. It was the colors were amazing.. and then a storm blew in and we got rained on! But we each managed to catch a trout in Joe Wright Creek.

Visit from Grandmama & Corrie

A couple of weeks ago, Grandmama, my cousin Corrie and her girls Jenna & Sophie came to visit us and see the Ranch. It was so fun to have them here and introduce them to our life in Colorado.

Ollie's Birthday

Poor little Ollie had a 102 fever on his birthday! We celebrated anyways.. but saved the big party for the next weekend! Here are some photos of the sick birthday boy.

Happy Birthday Ollie

Today is Ollie's first birthday!! I cannot believe that our favorite nephew is so grown-up already. Last Sunday night we all took him on his first camping trip at Long Draw Reservoir. It rained & snowed for 12 hours straight, but finally cleared off for a mid-morning breakfast. It turned out to be an amazing day. Everything up there is starting to change color - my favorite was the red tundra!

Kemah Trip

At the end of August I made the trip home to visit my family in Kemah, TX. Texas summers can be pretty hot, but it rained the whole week and it was almost cool out! Nathan is now working at Stingray Reef - a stingray petting zoo at the Kemah Boardwark. We used Nathan's 50% discount to ride and re-ride all of the amusements the Boardwalk has to offer.. so much that we made ourselves sick! The photobooth was a huge hit! The rain let up just long enough for a quick sail on Sunday afternoon.

Our 2nd Anniversary Camping Trip

Ryan & I celebrated our 2nd anniversary on July 2nd! We finally got away to celebrate last weekend with a 2 day camping excursion. We drove up into the Poudre Canyon and camped on the Larimer River the first night.
The next day we drove down to Long Draw Reservoir, hiked in with the canoe, and fished with dry flies. At one point Ryan & I caught a trout at the same time!

Long Draw Reservoir is just northwest of Rocky Mountain National Park. In the course of one day we saw 6 moose - including a newborn & 2 adolescents sparing.
On Saturday, we drove up Cameron Pass and went to Joe Wright Creek where we caught cutthroat trout & grayling. We sat at the same spot for hours and caught the same fish repeatedly. It was one of most fun days we've had since we moved here! Believe it or not, I fished through rain and even hail! But of course, weather changes pretty fast in the mountains.

I'm sure a few of you have heard of grayling. They have the most amazing teal sailfin that flashes in the water as they swim. Ryan says that grayling live in only the clearest mountain streams. They are salmonids - the family of salmon, trout & char. As you can tell, Ryan has been educating me in fishing background as well as technique.

Jenkins Family Reunion

The past couple days we have been hosting the Jenkins Family Reunion at the Ranch! It was so great to see everyone and catch up. Ryan's grandparents, Don & Phyllis, are considering a couple of retirement homes in the area. We would love to have them closer and are really excited about the possibilty of seeing them more frequently.
